A Journey of Compassion and Community

When Kaitlin first walked through the doors of Cay Galgon Life House back in 2017, she didn’t just start an internship, she found her calling. A new mom herself, nursing a one-year-old, and finishing her bachelor’s in Social Work from Cedar Crest College, she immediately felt at home in the mission of supporting pregnant women and new mothers.

“From day one, I knew this was where I was meant to be,” Kaitlin said. “I remember thinking this isn’t just a job. This is my calling.”

Eight years later, Kaitlin, now a mom of three, has a Master’s in Social Work from Marywood University and leads the Residential and Community Outreach Programs at Life House. She helps women find stability and connection during one of the most transformative and vulnerable times in their lives. Education remains at the heart of her work, both finishing graduate school while working and raising young children, and helping empower clients to pursue educational learning and growth for their independence.

The support and flexibility she’s been shown, both during her pregnancy and as a working mother, guide the standards she upholds for clients and staff alike. “The compassion I was shown here as a young mom is what I try to model for every woman who walks through our doors. So many moms just need someone to meet them where they are, believe in them, and provide the support that helps them rise above the challenges.” As her responsibilities have grown, that philosophy expanded from clients to leading her staff, emphasizing women supporting women by fostering a culture of care and compassion.

Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, Kaitlin’s commitment to community care runs deep. Through her leadership, Life House continues to strengthen the circle of support for local women and families, staying true to its mission to Support, Nurture, and Empower every mother and child who walks through its doors. When asked what keeps her grounded, Kaitlin says it’s all about women supporting women, moms supporting moms. She believes that when challenges arise within a community, the solutions often come from within. “I’ve been so blessed in my life,” she shares, “and dedicating myself to this mission is my way of giving back. We’re only as strong as our most vulnerable members.”

Under Kaitlin’s direction in 2025, Life House launched #LifeHouseDaily, a digital social media initiative connecting community families with Life House resources, offering real-time updates, education, and resources to keep moms supported and engaged even when barriers like transportation make in-person services difficult. Kaitlin also oversees the organization’s volunteer program and helped launch VolunteerLocal, a management platform designed to make it easier for community members to get involved and stay connected. Through these efforts, Kaitlin strengthens the engagement between Life House, its clients, and the broader community of supporters. Learn more about volunteering at Cay Galgon Life House aquí.
