On April 28, 2026, Life House resident Joanelie welcomed her beautiful baby girl, Nirahylez Faythe Juanita Espada, weighing 7 pounds and measuring 20 inches long, and the house has been filled with excitement ever since as everyone celebrates this new chapter together. In a moment that made her arrival even more remarkable, Joanelie recently graduated high school, an incredible accomplishment while also preparing for motherhood. We are so proud of her resilience and determination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And just this past week, Koral welcomed her beautiful baby boy, Jayden, into the world on May 8, 2026, weighing 5 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches long. Mom and baby are both doing well, and we are so hopeful they will be home with us sooner rather than later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This birth was especially meaningful for all of us here at Cay Galgon Life House. Koral does not have family local to the area, so throughout her labor she was surrounded by the people who have become her village here at Life House. Fellow resident Taylor stayed by Koral’s side through her entire labor and delivery, while staff and residents remained in constant contact and support throughout the night cheering her on every step of the way. It was such a special moment for our entire house community to\u00a0witness\u00a0the love, encouragement, and support surrounding Koral as she became a mother to sweet baby Jayden. There truly could not have been a more meaningful Mother’s Day weekend for her, and we are so honored to be part of this journey alongside her.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are also still eagerly anticipating one more arrival very soon. Anastasia is in full nesting mode as she prepares for the arrival of her baby girl and is already looking ahead toward pursuing her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification after settling into postpartum life with her daughter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Danaisha and her toddler son continue to light up the house every single day. After balancing motherhood, school, clinicals, work, and saving money, Danaisha received an incredible opportunity this spring: she was\u00a0offered a Medical Assistant position with St. Luke’s Endocrinology in Saucon Valley!\u00a0We are beyond proud to see all of\u00a0her\u00a0hard work pay\u00a0off.\u00a0Taylor is currently in the clinical\u00a0portion\u00a0of her LPN\u00a0(Licensed\u00a0Practical\u00a0Nurse)\u00a0program and is\u00a0now\u00a0looking ahead toward\u00a0obtaining\u00a0her RN\u00a0(Registered\u00a0Nurse). Watching her\u00a0dream\u00a0of\u00a0future\u00a0goals while balancing motherhood has been incredible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And Mira continues to amaze everyone around her,\u00a0as she\u00a0balances\u00a0two jobs while saving diligently for the future,\u00a0building\u00a0a sustainable life\u00a0for herself and her baby, Ariah, who will celebrate her first birthday in September.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are excited to officially welcome Annie and her baby, Legacy, as our newest residential family arrivals. Annie and Legacy were affiliated with Life House as Community Program clients while waiting for a residential placement. We are so happy they have finally made it into the program! Annie has already hit the ground running, immediately exploring employment opportunities and looking into obtaining her CDL (Commercial Driver\u2019s License). We cannot wait to see where this next chapter takes them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n From new babies to toddlers learning new words, the moms completing various training programs, women receiving job offers, and families building futures they once thought may not have been possible, there is something truly special happening inside these walls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond These Walls<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our Beyond These Walls Program continues to grow and thrive as we walk alongside former residential moms after transitioning out of Life House and into independent living. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The growth we have witnessed this year has been nothing short of incredible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of our former moms has become a tow truck driver and mechanic while successfully raising both a daughter and a son in her own home. Another former resident returned to school for social work, got married, and is now expecting a little boy this fall. She now successfully overcomes every obstacle placed in front of her with grace, determination, and resilience. One of our Beyond These Walls mothers recently earned her CRS (Certified Recovery Specialist) certification and has continued leveling up professionally, which has allowed her to afford her own apartment while also working toward reconnecting with her oldest daughter. Another mom successfully completed her CNA training and recently moved into a larger apartment that better fits the needs of her growing family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n To say we are proud of these women is such an understatement. Watching these previous residents take flight while still knowing they have us as a village behind them has been one of the greatest joys of our Beyond These Walls Program. Sometimes having that continued support for just a little while longer after leaving Life House can make all the difference in creating lasting stability, confidence, and self-reliance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Community Program<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Every family that comes through our Community Program arrives with a story. Some are navigating new motherhood for the first time. Others are managing financial instability, food insecurity, or the weight of doing it all on their own without any support. What they share is a need for someone to walk alongside them while they desire to make a quality home for them and their children. This year so far, Cay Galgon Life House has served 245 families through our Community Program, with our staff dedicating 305 hours in direct service to these women and families in our care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One special story from our Community Program is a beautiful example of what determination and support can accomplish. Belly first connected with Life House during her pregnancy while balancing two jobs and helping to care for her aunt. After giving birth to her daughter, Quessie, she returned to work while navigating new motherhood, family caregiving, and the financial demands of a new baby. Life House connected her with local CNA training opportunities, and Belly enrolled in a program that fit her needs. Even as the demands of work, school, parenting, and caregiving grew, Belly stayed focused on the future she was building. In November 2025, she successfully passed her CNA certification exam and is continuing her education toward becoming a Registered Nurse. She also recently celebrated saving enough money to purchase her very first car! Her story is a powerful reminder of what is possible when a mother is truly seen, supported, and loved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Educational Programming<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n This spring, Cay Galgon Life House has launched an exciting new four-part family nutrition series, “Tayo and the Super Produce Pals,” in partnership with St. Luke’s Pediatrics. The series is designed to help moms and caregivers build healthy habits together with children through storytelling, nutrition education, and weekly take-home challenges offered in bilingual Spanish\/English and English-only formats. All available spaces for both sessions fill up quickly, so we can tell there is genuine enthusiasm and engagement from families. The series also serves as part of a broader research initiative by the St. Luke’s University Health Network Pediatric Residency Program, about evaluating story-based nutrition education for families experiencing food insecurity. It is a wonderful example of what becomes possible when community-based support, pediatric health, and research-informed practice come together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking ahead to the summer, we will also launch a Safety Series in collaboration with the Bethlehem Police Department, covering practical topics including crime prevention, home and child safety, healthy relationships, CPR and first aid, and community resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our Real Talk: Women’s Health Series<\/em> will return in Fall 2026, building off the success of this year’s four-part series with expanded programming and additional guest speakers. Stay tuned to our social media platforms for registration details on both. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Volunteers<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n In April, we hosted our Volunteer Appreciation Open House in celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, bringing volunteers, supporters, and Residential Program moms and their babies together for an evening of connection, gratitude, and fellowship. The event was a beautiful reminder of the incredible impact our volunteers make. We are also grateful for the St. Luke’s Department of Advanced Practice Community Outreach Committee – a team from St. Luke’s University Health Network – who participated in a site-wide Volunteer Challenge and Spring Refresh project in partnership with the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. Volunteers supported beautification and household refresh efforts throughout the Life House and organized a donation drive for essential baby items, toiletries, and household supplies. Their investment in the spaces and resources that support the moms and babies here means more than words can express. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you are interested in volunteering, upcoming orientations are scheduled for May 20, May 21, June 16, and June 17. We would love to welcome you into our community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Partnership Updates<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n This season, Life House has been blessed by the generosity of partners who continue to show up in meaningful ways. The Freezer Meal Ministry has donated 156 frozen meals to our Community Program families and, from March through November, continues to donate fresh produce for distribution. Already this year, more than 1,100 pounds of fresh produce have been donated and distributed to Life House families, a gift that makes a real and tangible difference at the table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our partnership with St. Luke’s University Health Network continues to deepen. In addition to the nutrition series and research initiative currently in progress, the Life House remains a community site for first-, second-, and third-year pediatric residents through the SLUHN Pediatric Residency Program, with early planning already taking place for future series and initiatives involving additional resident physicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n CGLH has also received\u00a012 pallets of donated products\u00a0this spring from several key warehouse partners, including baby wipes, baby food, food and drink products, home goods, cleaning supplies, and specialty hygiene products. Three pallets\u00a0were distributed to\u00a0a dozen or so\u00a0partner agencies, including other mom and baby programs and food banks across the region. Additionally,\u00a0emi\u00a0landscape\u00a0will return on May 9 for their third consecutive annual Spring Refresh, generously donating their time, materials, and landscaping\u00a0expertise\u00a0to help beautify the grounds at Life House. We are deeply grateful for their continued investment in creating a welcoming environment for the women and families we serve.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mother’s Day Celebrations<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n This spring, the community spirit surrounding Mother’s Day was truly something to behold, and we are so grateful to everyone who showed up so generously for the mothers and babies served by Cay Galgon Life House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Kendra Scott generously hosted a Give Back Event in support of Cay Galgon Life House. Shoppers could use a special code at kendrascott.com to direct 20% of their purchase price directly to CGLH, with an in-store experience at the Lehigh Valley Mall rounding out the week. We are thankful to Kendra Scott for their support of the mothers and babies we serve and for helping raise awareness of our work in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Then, on May 1 at Penn State Lehigh Valley, we gathered for our first Mother’s Day Lunch & Learn, a celebration of mothers, mother figures, and the shared experiences of women. The afternoon featured four inspiring speakers: Yamelisa Jimenez Taveras on navigating work and life, Dr. Marcie Rolle on setting boundaries for wellbeing and mental health, Paula Albanese on the realities facing local mothers experiencing hardship, and Vanessa Rivera on navigating life pivots and transitions. A donation drive provided attendees the option to bring toiletries for the women and babies served through our programs, and the response was generous and heartfelt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n With Gratitude<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Every new baby welcomed, every mom who lands a job offer, and every former resident building a life of her own happens because our community believes these women are important and deserve our attention and generosity.
