For Ashlee Terpstra and Lisa Tkachenko, a single evening at Casks & Corks was enough to change the way they saw Cay Galgon Life House. Now, as the event celebrates its fifth year, the two co-chairs continue to pour their time and their hearts into building something that reaches far beyond one night of fundraising. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashlee’s connection to Cay Galgon Life House began when she asked a friend a simple question: Where could she donate some baby items? The friend pointed her to the Life House. The more she learned about the organization, the more she wanted to be part of it. Lisa’s introduction came through Ashlee, and it was the focus on supporting mothers and babies that drew her in. Serving as co-chair felt like a meaningful way to help move that work forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashlee has been a co-chair of Casks & Corks since its inception five years ago. This is Lisa’s third year co-chairing the event. Their roles involve everything from coordinating sponsors, donors, and volunteers to managing a mountain of event details. “What keeps me involved is knowing that the event directly supports women and children in our community,” Lisa said. \u201cSpending time with Ashlee and Paula is also a plus,\u201d she added with a smile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both women point to a single moment when the impact of Cay Galgon Life House became real to them. For Ashlee, it happened at the very first Casks & Corks, when she heard one of the mothers speak. “I was changed,” she said. “I knew we were making a big impact on these women’s lives, even with the success of one event.” For Lisa, a mother herself, the moment came when she heard how the support, guidance, and encouragement offered at the Life House helped a young mother build a stable future for herself and her baby. “It reminded me that every mother deserves someone in her corner,” Lisa said, “and that even small acts of support can change the course of a family’s life.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That belief shapes how Lisa and Ashlee talk about the event with newcomers, making sure that everyone understands that every dollar raised at Casks & Corks helps provide housing, education, mentoring, and resources that empower mothers to build a brighter future for themselves and their children, giving them the tools to move toward lives of self-reliance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking ahead, both women find hope in the same place: the generosity of the community and the growing recognition of what Cay Galgon Life House does for the families it serves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lisa is a practicing Geriatric Physician Assistant and lives in the Lehigh Valley with her husband and two sons. Ashlee lives in Upper Saucon with her husband and two children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
