Just days after the most successful Gala in Cay Galgon Life House history, a phone call came in asking Paula to fill in for a last-minute opening on iHeart radio at WXLT. A few hours later, she was seated in a small broadcast booth with headphones on\u2014as the host counted down the 15-seconds to airtime! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know, I was pretty tired after the Gala,\u201d\u00a0Albanese\u00a0said, laughing. \u201cBut if there is an opportunity to raise awareness about the hundreds of regional pregnant women and mothers of infants who are homeless, at risk, or otherwise marginalized, I\u2019m ready to roll.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the annual Gala, a major fundraising and awareness event, current and former Life House residents have a platform to share their success stories. Paula spoke on the radio about the 2025 guest speaker and how she left an unhealthy relationship and didn\u2019t know who to trust or rely on. \u201cShe mesmerized the audience with her story and explained how the Life House helped her achieve self-reliance and build confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kate Hughes, talk show host of The X\u2019s Monday Lunch Express, was intrigued by the Life House programs that guide these women from dependence to self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKate was blown away as I explained that we transition clients to stable housing, provide essential supplies for the babies and moms, and connect them with job training and continuing education to build a better future for their children,\u201d said Albanese. \u201cShe asked on air and was amazed that last year we served 256 pregnant women and new moms, assisted 517 families, worked 917 hours for community outreach clients, and facilitated 162 emergency outreach appointments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
