Cay Galgon Life House welcomed our very first volunteer summer intern, and we couldn’t have asked for a better fit. Olivia Crane, a rising senior at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, joins our team with a passion for learning, a heart for service, and a desire to contribute meaningfully.
Olivia was drawn to CGLH by her desire for an internship that would be impactful and eye-opening. “I wanted to experience what nonprofit organizations actually do, and how they operate day to day,” she shared. “I’ve found that here.” A sociology major with a minor in studio art, Olivia is the first intern to serve by assisting with administrative support. She jumped in with both feet to help support the Residential and Community Outreach Programs with great enthusiasm, assisting with everything from tabling events, social media brainstorming, and sorting donations. “The staff welcomed me so warmly,” she said. “It’s a small team of strong women who really care, and they’ve made me feel empowered to do my job well.”
After graduation, Olivia hopes to pursue a master’s degree in sociology or business. While she’s still exploring her path, this experience has solidified her desire to work directly with people and serve her community. “This internship has helped me build perspective and understand a wider range of social backgrounds,” she reflected. “It’s something I’ll carry forward, wherever I go next.”
